Humanities
I have taken two years of Humanities and never was much of a fan, but this year I believe Humanities will be different in so many ways. So far In humanities all we have done is study Rhetoric. Rhetoric is the art of speaking or writing effectively. We hear or see rhetoric everyday in some way, we may not realize it or identify it but we do. In humanities we watched Martin Luther Kings speech and found that his speech was very rhetoric and that his speech is one of the very best representations of rhetoric that we know today.
The first project we have done in this class this year was very unique and different from any other class or project I have ever done in this school. We were to come up with a real event to write about and give our opinion about. Some people chose to write about gun control, abortion, animal testing, The Military Industrial Complex, and more. After we are done writing our paper we begin modifying it, improving it, and making it rhetorical, all to make it ready for us to read at out first humanities exhibition of the year. For my project I chose to write about how I believe World War 3 was coming and that it was our own fault, and both you and I can do to prepare for it.
Through this project I have learned that rhetoric is more than just an unanswered question. I have learned that rhetoric is a piece of writing or a saying that makes the reader feel in some way. A piece of writing or a saying that impacts the reader or audience in a somewhat overwhelming amount. Usually we see rhetoric in many of our writing techniques, like metaphors, similes, metonymy, anaphora, antithesis, and much more.
I connected to this project personally because I chose this topic by my self. Most schools do not allow the students to chose their own topics very often, and when they do, they definitely do not allow the students to express there own bias opinion through whatever means those students come up with. What I mean by this is that in this project we were able to say small curse words and get mad and express those emotions. Through this project I also included that it was my longing dream to join the military and explained that this is how I am going to prepare for this war as well as any of the following ones.
At the beginning of this project I had no idea what I was going to write about. At first I wanted to write about how much money our government used on the military yearly, if I was able to connected with it more personally. The Idea of talking about my belief on world war 3, from the perspective of a future soldier. Which was much more effective and what I still would have done to improve my project was come up with idea even sooner to have even more time to revise my oral piece of that exhibition and get more edits and critiques to make my rant even better than it was.
Through the course of this class this year I have found within myself that so seriously hate this country, this government, and honestly most of the people that live in it. Through this class I have seen how stupid our government is and the way they run it, I have also really seen that the ridiculous people in this country are truly under the assumption that they are safe in their homes behind the borders of America.

Wounded Knee Inquiry
In this assignment we were given several documents and letters that were written in response to the event at wounded knee. These documents were letters between government leaders such as the Secretary of Interior and the President or interviews or one of the Indian survivors of the event. The Idea was to use the information in these documents to create a historically accurate textbook passage on the event.
